We spent the Labor Day weekend in Kernville at the Sequoia Lodge right next to the Kern River. Every year my mothers family gathers here for a family reunion. Our group pretty much takes over the whole lodge, I think there were over thirty of us this year. The older kids begin their day with a game of baseball and then float down the river a few miles on inner tubes, after dinner they play poker. While the older kids are off on their adventures the smaller kids play together and fish. I'm not the outdoorsy type so I spent my days reading and hanging out on the deck chatting with whoever was around.
